Attended a client education dinner here.
Great location and the view is spectacular on the lanai of the restaurant.
Good service and the food was very good. I tried to capture a pic of each dish before I devoured it. No complaints from me. The dinner was delicious. -

Service was okay. We ordered Wagyu beef medium rare and it was served well done and chewy. Sushi was tasteless. Will never recommend or return.
Very disappointing! -

Heard about this place, the night before I booked for a family. Figured we are staying here we thought we bring the family here. So sorely disappointed. The appetizer sashimi pieces super small. The large sashimi platter not sized correctly. The hamachi pieces were tiny. Comparing the price and the told the place was booked solid on Saturday. That wasn't the case. Half the tables empty. The woman who work Saturday with full kimonos not here. Our
Last meal never showed up for the bday mom, garlic shrimp how hard and why so long to do get delivered? 30 mins after everyone else is done eating, the waiter then asks the bday mom, would you like it to go? ! Why would you say that after the rest of the table is done. Clean up of the tables super slow. It's a very small place. And not busy at all.. would I come back and or recommend?
Nope
We are a local family. Dollar value for the dinner tonight does not match the advertising for this place super disappointing! Some dishes were good.
But not out of the world, triple price then what I could get a local. -

This place is total trash! I'm sorry but if I'm going to a fancy restaurant I expect good service and good food~_~ it doesn't say on the menu that most of the food is deep fried.... I can't eat deep fried food so I was really disappointed with my visit!
Came here with my family. My grandma came to Honolulu to visit from Japan and we wanted to take her somewhere fancy and Japanese style restaurant so we tried this place out.
Once we sat down outside we ordered all the food we wanted to order. My mom asked our waiter if the steak was deep fried and he said it's not.
We ordered the steak and it was deep fried once we got it. The steak wasn't even good. It was fully cooked(well done) and hard to crew on. It wasn't good and we all wanted to return it or change it because it was that bad!
IT DOESNT SAY ON THE MENU IF IT WAS DEEP FRIED OR IN ANY KIND IF COATING!
I had the Miyako Prix Pixe dinner ($55) comes with appetizer, sashimi, tempura, choice of broiled butterfish, lobster butter sauce, U.S. beef filet steak, or U.S. Wagyu sirloin steak ( I picked lobster), rice, miso soup, Japanese pickles, and ice cream.
I got my lobster and it was deep fried. I didn't enjoy it so I gave it to my Mom and Grandma. They also didn't like it either so we just left it.
It would've been better if the waiter told us the food we ordered was deep fried or in some kind of coating...
When I'm eating at a fancy restaurant I expect having good service on the spot. -

This is our family's favorite place to celebrate special occasions! We love it here because the food is delish, service is good, and if we go on Fri nite we can see the fireworks! We usually do the prix fix which comes with appetizer, sashimi, tempura, choice of entree and dessert. Best option for price and able to get all the best items at a Japanese restaurant! It is a bit pricy here since it is Japanese fine dining but so worth it! Other option similar to prix fix is the chef's choice which changes each month. Depending on the offering I get this one.
For ordering ala carte best appetizer hands down is the Deep Fried Chicken "Tatsutaage". The batter on the chicken is light and crispy! I got the garlic shrimp which was so very good!! Warning it has the shell on so it can be messy. Thankfully they give wet towels to everyone to wash their hands before eating. Everything is of quality - sushi, tempura, sides like namasu and takuwan. You can tell they take pride in their food. For dessert the Honey milk and soy match pudding are very good. Not super sweet, taste inline with Japanese desserts.
It's a bummer that their rating is only 3.5 because their food is so good and service is excellent. I'm going to guess the reason for the low rating is prices and depending on how busy it is, it can take a while for service and food to come out. I won't lie I've experienced a very long dinner there. It wasn't a big deal to me because I wasn't in a rush to get out but I can see how it can be a negative for them especially if guests are unaware.
